What began in the mid-1990s as a modest room beneath the Carlos P. Romulo Library has grown into a cornerstone of Tarlac’s cultural identity. Originally known as Museo ng Probinsya, it sparked a local art movement and gave early platforms to talents like Andrew Mendoza and Iwag Palatao.
In 2007, under Governor Victor Yap and the Tarlac Heritage Foundation, the museum found a permanent home — a dedicated space where artists could gather, exhibit, and thrive. A decade later, Governor Susan Yap renamed it Museo ng Tarlac, launching national art contests and drawing creatives from across the country.
Now serving as both the province’s art hub and official tourism office, the Museo ng Tarlac continues to celebrate heritage through exhibits, workshops, and cultural programs — keeping Tarlac’s creative spirit alive for generations to come.
The Museo ng Tarlac isn’t just a place. It’s a promise — that the culture of Tarlac will never be forgotten, only celebrated.
Institutionalized as the Provincial Tourism Office, it is envisioned to be in-charge of the planning, programming, coordination, implementation and promotion of the tourism industry in the province as well as the province’s history, culture and arts.
Envisioned as the center for the promotion of culture and arts in Tarlac, the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) also serves as a venue for local artists to showcase their talents and promote their crafts through organized activities and events.
The PTO, administers tourism activities including promotion of destination sites, events and products, updating and continuing research for future development plans as well as organizer of different activities of the provincial government.
The following are the key objectives of the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) in promoting and preserving Tarlac’s cultural and tourism heritage.
